Finn
Meet Finn and Mom Brittany…
Finnegan is a 6 year old happy, healthy, active little boy who just so happens to also be a non-speaking autistic little boy. Mrs. Mac has been his kindergarten teacher for two years now and the biggest blessing. We saw so many positive changes after the first year with Mrs Mac, but what really solidified growth and learning was spending the summer at Mac Camp. Not only did Finn get to be around other kids and adults, but he was able to get 1:1 attention with Mrs Mac that helped both of them learn to communicate with each other whether that was through vocal noises, the iPad/AAC device, sign language or a hug & kiss. The transition back to school went so smoothly and the reason for that is Mrs Mac. She built a routine that could be carried over straight to the classroom to set Finn up for the best success. As a parent it’s so nice to have someone you trust with your child and know not only are they having so much fun and learner but they are safe. When your child can’t tell you if something is wrong, you learn to listen in other ways and the love that is visible between Finn & Mrs Mac cannot be missed. Not only does my son have someone in his corner forever but so do I as his mother and that means just as much. When we can’t figure out what’s going on but clearly there’s an issue having support from someone like Mrs Mac makes all the difference. You may not solve the problem right then but at least you have someone with you to figure it out. Our community can only benefit from this type of program lead by a selflessly kind person as Linsey.
